Antonio Merinero
Madrid, España, 1966
Artista gráfico y fotógrafo.
Cursó estudios en la Academia de Artes y Oficios de Madrid. Posteriormente trabajó durante algunos años por cuenta propia como diseñador gráfico. Se convirtió en un experto en producción gráfica tras los diez años en los que trabajó para compañías de diseño, publicidad e imagen corporativa estadounidenses y británicas radicadas en Madrid.
Viajar es el hilo conductor en la vida y trabajo de Antonio Merinero, viajes en su España materna y largos viajes por Europa, América Latina, y Asia son la ilimitada fuente de inspiración para sus colages. Merinero comenzó a componer colages montados en diferentes capas con los que no pretendía criticar el espíritu de una era consumista como hicieron los inventores del Pop-art, sino crear un nostálgico mundo ficticio construido con campañas publicitarias pasadas de moda, iconografía, tipografía y arte comercial. La búsqueda del material necesario para expresar este mundo nostálgico ha llevado a Merinero a explorar otras técnicas como la fotografía, el graffiti y la serigrafía.

Antonio Merinero attended the Academy of Arts and Professions of Madrid.Subsequently he worked several years as a freelance graphic producer.He came to professional and artistic maturity during the 10 years he worked for American and English advertising agencies and branding companies.
Travelling is the thread in Merinero's life and work.Extensive travels through his native Spain, Europe, Latin America and Asia are a limitless source of inspiration for his collages. Merinero began composing collages mounted in layers.With these collages Merinero, does not criticise the zeitgeist of a consumerist era, as done by the inventors of Pop art.He uses expired campaigns, iconography, typography and commercial art to create a fictitious nostalgic world.
The search for material necessary to express this nostalgic world has lead him to explore other techniques such as, photography, graffiti and screen-printing.
